punishing mummy

she thought she could quietly install a wee blond midget (see picture) into the house that would challenge my dominance and that I would just take it, lying down, without a fight. she thought I would be pleased to have a new friend to play with forever: someone with whom to build dens, eat ice cream, drink cider, and swop secrets and shoes. I am certainly teaching her a thing or two about that assumption. Its possible that I may never forgive her.

Mummy has always known that I am strong of will. Last nights' performance made me feel more dominant again. I didn't go to bed til well past 9pm again last night, then got up at 4.26 am, finally back to sleep at 5.21 to be up again at 6.31. [mummy had been up with Sophie at 3 and then at 6 whilst also getting me back to sleep at 5 and so was on her knees. I felt a victory there.]

Update: Despite the previous night's limited sleep hours, I have managed a sterling drama queen performance tonight which probably disturbed the entire street, and finally collapsed on the carpet at 9.45. I am not tired - why does she not get that?

cute angel number 2 baby!

an early smile at 5 weeks old?

Entertaining Scarlett

We took her to the Zoo

Her friends came round to play

Mummy helped her make her own pizza, including dough

And still she was not tired on any of those days

I cant run yet and there's nowhere to hide

Does she look like a Sophie Klein?

For those of you readers who liked the first name we tried - Tansy - well sorry but Daddy said no, so we are going with Sophie. Sophie is now 5 weeks old and she is settling in to the family very well. She has given Mummy and Daddy 2 nights of uninterrupted sleep from midnight til 6 (NB. I messed those up by getting up at 5...but they could have had that uninterrupted sleep), but is back to waking up once in the night like most babies. I make sure she is up again with me at 6. Yes, Mummy is very cross about that.
I am trying to keep up my evil plan of not going to bed and getting up early, but tiredness is setting in even for me, so now I stay up late every other night but still get up at 6 every morning. Last night was a special effort of screaming and waking Sophie up every time Mummy thought she was asleep again.
Mummy told me she counted 25 more grey hairs on her head this morning after that performance. She also said something about harking for the old days where she reviewed clinical trial agreements, went to a meeting, typed some emails and grabbed a Starbucks in a peaceful and respectful atmosphere.

trying to be nice to baby

Friday afternoon in the park.

I have gone from being at nursery 5 days a week from 8.30 til 6.30 to being able to hang out with both Mummy and Daddy on the Heath on a week day!

trouble

Mummy has not been posting as usual, because I have been Trouble. Who me? I have decided that at bedtime I am not tired and I will not stay in my big girls bed but wail on the stairs instead. After much crying and tantrums later, normally 10 pm, I collapse into sleep only to ping up again at between 2-4 am, ready to do battle once more. I try to time this second waking just before my baby sister wakes up in the night, to make Mummy happy. Then I am properly up at 6.06 am bouncing on Mummy's head or kicking Daddy where he doesnt like being kicked.

Mummy is quite dazed now with lack of sleep and dealing with the constant naughtiness so cannot guarantee when the next posting will be. In the meantime there are some more photos of baby sister without a name to keep you going. According to Mummy, Daddy is not observing the usual Dad etiquette rules and allowing her to have the final say. Daddy is hoping that Mummy will just be worn down into agreeing anything, but Mummy has a strong inner core of resistance. So, it is still No. 2, baby, kleinster, turtle, squawker etc.

knackered mummy

Putting on weight and still very chilled

Baby sister is mellow and likes to quietly mull over her thoughts. She also rarely cries, only when she is very very hungry or when I am squashing her. Apparently I was not mellow when I was born.

baby sister's first trip to the pub

I went here when I was about 10 days old. But baby sister is 5 days old in this picture.

I am not quite sure that we should keep baby sister (as her name still is) so I am processing my thoughts through art therapy. Note heavy use of black crayon in this piece.
